Tripoint Lending ("we," "us" or "our") operates tripointlendings.com, a free service that connects U.S. adults with lenders offering personal loans. We respect your privacy and handle your information carefully. This Privacy Policy describes our practices for information collected through our website and loan request form. Last revised: see the date shown on this page.
Information We Collect
Tripoint Lending collects information you give us directly in your loan request, information from consumer reporting agencies through a soft inquiry, and limited technical information from your device.
Information You Provide
- Identity and contact details: name, date of birth, home address, email address and phone number
- Social Security number, used to verify identity and obtain credit information
- Financial details: income, pay frequency, employment status, housing status and bank account type
- Loan details: requested amount and purpose
- Messages you send to our support team
Information From Other Sources
With your permission, we obtain credit report information through a soft inquiry. We may also receive identity verification and fraud-prevention results from service providers, and status updates from lenders about whether an offer was made or a loan funded.
Technical Information
Our servers automatically record basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type and the pages requested. We use this data to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent fraud.
How We Use Your Information
Tripoint Lending uses your information to process your loan request, match you with lenders in our network, verify your identity, prevent fraud, respond to you and comply with the law.
Specifically, we use information to evaluate which lenders may fit your profile, send your request to those lenders, communicate with you about your request, improve the reliability of our service, protect against misuse, and meet legal, regulatory and record-keeping obligations. We do not sell your personal information for money.
How We Share Your Information
Tripoint Lending shares your information with lenders in our network that may make you an offer, with service providers that help run our service, and when required by law.
- Lenders in our network. We share your request details with lenders whose criteria may match your profile so they can evaluate it and present an offer. Each lender handles your information under its own privacy policy, which you should review.
- Service providers. Companies that provide hosting, identity verification, fraud prevention, data security and email delivery receive only the information needed to perform their work, under contracts that limit its use.
- Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information to comply with a subpoena, court order or regulation, or to protect the rights and safety of our users, lenders or company.
- Business transfers. If our business is merged or sold, information may be transferred to the successor under this policy.
Soft and Hard Credit Inquiries
Tripoint Lending uses a soft credit inquiry to check offers, which does not affect your credit score, while a lender may run a hard inquiry if you accept an offer.
A soft inquiry is visible only to you on your own credit report. A hard inquiry is requested by the lender you choose, under that lender's terms, and may cause a small, temporary drop in your score.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Tripoint Lending uses only essential cookies needed for the website to function and stay secure, and the site does not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
Essential cookies may remember your progress through the request form or protect against fraudulent submissions. Because they are required for the site to work, they cannot be switched off in our systems, although you can block cookies in your browser settings, which may prevent the form from working.
How We Protect Your Information
Tripoint Lending protects personal information with encryption in transit, restricted employee access, secure hosting and regular reviews of our security practices.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. If we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by law.
How Long We Keep Information
Tripoint Lending keeps personal information only as long as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and meet legal and regulatory record-keeping requirements.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it de-identified so it can no longer be linked to you.
Your Choices
Choices available to you include opting out of marketing emails and text messages, asking us to access or correct your information, and asking us to delete information we are not required to keep.
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can reply STOP to any text message. Lenders that received your request may contact you separately; to stop those messages, contact the lender directly.
